How the firm works
Document review
A property file rests on the record rather than on what the parties recall. The land register extract, the deed of conveyance, the zoning certificate and the cadastral record are examined before it is settled which action should be brought. Where documents have to be obtained from a registry or a municipality, the firm attends to that.
Preliminary assessment and advice
At the first meeting the legal basis of the matter, its position in time and the possible outcomes are assessed. Where the assessment is negative, it is stated plainly. Proceedings are not recommended for a claim that is time barred or that has no legal basis.
Written notice of time and cost
The likely duration of the proceedings, court fees, expert and site inspection expenses and the attorney fee are set out in writing before the engagement is accepted. Cost items that may arise later in the proceedings are anticipated in the same document.
Duty of confidentiality
The duty of confidentiality arises with the first meeting and is independent of whether the file is taken on. Information given and documents produced at that meeting are not shared with third parties, and the duty is not limited in time.
